Toyota Mega Web was a comprehensive automotive theme park in Tokyo, providing a look at Toyota’s latest models, cutting-edge technology, and rich history. It offered a multifaceted experience, from test-driving new vehicles to exploring classic cars, reflecting the evolution of mobility and urban development.

About Toyota Mega Web

The Toyota Mega Web, also known as Mega Web, highlighted the innovation of the automotive industry and Toyota’s role within it. Located in the vibrant Palette Town of Odaiba, Tokyo, the facility operated as a comprehensive showroom for Toyota vehicles and a hub for car enthusiasts from its opening in March 1999 until its closure on December 31, 2021.

Managed by Toyota, Mega Web was divided into three primary sections: the Toyota City Showcase, History Garage, and Ride Studio. These areas provided a holistic look at the company’s offerings, from their latest market models to a nostalgic journey through automotive history.

At the Toyota City Showcase, visitors could engage with the future of mobility, seeing the latest Toyota vehicles and the company’s vision for urban development. This area was complemented by the Lexus showcase, displaying the luxury and craftsmanship of Toyota’s high-end brand.

The History Garage displayed an impressive collection of iconic cars from the 1950s to the 1970s. It echoed the offerings of the Toyota Museum in Aichi Prefecture, with auto-related magazines and miniatures available for purchase.

For those seeking a hands-on experience, Ride One allowed test drives for most Toyota models on a 1.3-kilometer course. The Ride Studio offered children educational driving sessions with exhibition models like “Pius” and “Kamatte.”

Toyota Mega Web was more than a vehicle showcase; it was a venue for interactions with the brand. Motorsport fans could enjoy events with Toyota team drivers from SUPER GT and the 24 Hours of Le Mans races. The park also hosted F1 machines demo-driven by Toyota team drivers, especially before the F1 Japanese Grand Prix at Fuji Speedway from 2006 to 2008.

Despite plans for a 10-year operation, Mega Web surpassed expectations and continued service well beyond the projected duration due to favorable economic factors. After a renewal, it remained a key part of Toyota’s showroom presence in Tokyo.

With the announcement of redevelopment plans for Palette Town in 2020, including the construction of a large multi-purpose arena and commercial facilities, Mega Web ceased operations. The facility was demolished on April 1, 2022, marking the end of an era for Toyota’s presence in Tokyo’s showroom landscape.
