About Tempozan Giant Ferris Wheel

One of the largest Ferris wheels in the world, providing a stunning 112m high view of Osaka Bay and the city.

At 112 meters tall and with a diameter of 100m, the Tempozan Giant Ferris wheel is one of the largest in the world. It offers stunning views over the Osaka Bay and the city itself, and is an enjoyable way to see more of the city from a different angle. This is particularly the case in the evening when it provides a spectacular view of the city lights.

Several of the gondolas offer see-through cabins, with flooring that can be seen through. These are priced the same as regular gondolas, so there may often be a queue for them while the standard gondolas pass by empty.

When it was built in 1997, the Tempozan wheel was the tallest in the world. However that was quickly surpassed in 1999, and it now sits around 19th in the list.

Although a bit of a gimmick, the wheel has recently been retrofitted with coloured lights which change patterns and pictures. This includes acting as a giant billboard showing the next day’s weather forecast.
