About Shishi-iwa Observatory

Close to the top of the Miyajima Ropeway, this open-air lookout offers a stunning panoramic view of the Seto Inland Sea, Hiroshima, and surrounding islands.

Shishi-iwa Observatory, a short walk from the top station of the Miyajima Ropeway offers a stunning panoramic view over the Seto Inland Sea, islands, and Hiroshima Bay.

From this spot, you can see Hiroshima Port, Kure Port, Itsukushima Strait, and the island of Akinada. A busy shipping channel, you are likely to see many ships navigating the beautiful waters.

Being only a short walk from the ropeway, the observatory is an excellent spot for visitors to Miyajima to take in the vista. For the more adventurous, it makes an excellent starting point for a longer hike across to Mt. Misen (approximately 1-2 hours return).
